Artistic workshops “Creating Caliban’s Cave”
A group of the international artists coordinated by Pietro Floridia were leading workshop participants in the creation of texts, dramatic scenes, choreography, videos and sounds based on the Shakespearean text that is arguably the most appropriate a collective reflection on encounters and conflicts between different cultures: "The Tempest". Once king of the island before the arrival of Prospero and Miranda reduced his status to that of a slave, Caliban served as the focal point for these collective workshops. In this optic, Caliban’s cave was both a ghetto to which the marginalised were banished and an inclusive “outsider” space that could filled – as can the island – with whispers, sweet noises and harmonies that only a “monster” such as Caliban can discern.
